Abstract

Indonesia as a country rich in diversity, including religion, culture, ethnicity and race, faces serious challenges in maintaining social harmony amid potential conflicts due to intolerance. Globalization and the times have triggered social changes that threaten the values of peace, brotherhood, and social resilience. The cultivation of religious moderation values through education is seen as a strategic solution to overcome these challenges, focusing on the formation of a tolerant, intellectually healthy and moderate generation. Multicultural education and religious moderation need to be implemented systematically in schools, especially in areas with high religious diversity. The role of teachers as facilitators and inclusive education policies are crucial in realizing social harmony. This study highlights the importance of formal and informal education in instilling the values of religious moderation to overcome radicalism and intolerance, and maintain Indonesia's diversity as a harmonious force.
