Abstract

Indonesia is a democratic country that implements a division of power, so that power is not centralized. Power in Indonesia is divided into three, namely executive power, legislative power and judicial power. Each of them has its own uniqueness in government. The Constitutional Court on August 20 2024 issued a decision regarding the age limit for regional head candidates as written in decision Number 70/PUU-XXII/2024. However, it was not long before the DPR revised the Regional Election Law, the contents of which were different from the results decided by the MK. The DPR's actions considered that the community had violated the existing constitution, so a demonstration was held on August 22 2024. However, the demonstration held to reject the Regional Election Bill actually resulted in another controversy among the community. This was caused by the circulation of videos or photos depicting the actions of the police when handling crowds that were considered repressive. Many people carry out crowd handling actions that they feel are not in accordance with the applicable SOPs. This act of handling the masses by the police which was considered "harsh" was a signal originating from the anarchy of the masses and their indifferent attitude towards the appeals given by the police. As a precautionary measure, it is necessary to create a new program so that future demonstrations can run in a conducive manner and not cause casualties. One of the precautions that can be taken is to place female police officers in the front row facing the masses, which is expected to minimize offense.
