Abstract

The certificate of ownership is a crucial document to assert legal ownership of property, such as land or other assets. This document serves not only as tangible proof of ownership but also provides legal protection to the owner. Achieving absolute legal certainty requires a land registration process that ensures strong legal protection for landowners and other registered rights. The Indonesian government is responsible for conducting land registration to ensure legal certainty in accordance with Article 19(1) of the UUPA, emphasizing the importance of a cadaster system for land registration purposes, focusing on rights and ownership of land. Based on these points, this study formulates two research questions: firstly, regarding the role of the certificate of ownership in ensuring legal certainty concerning property in civil law, and secondly, regarding the implementation of the certificate of ownership in resolving disputes over property ownership in civil law. The research method employed is normative juridical to analyze and understand the role of the certificate of ownership in ensuring legal certainty over land as evidence of ownership rights to land.
