Abstract

An analysis of the performance of Islamic banks towards economic development based on Law No. 21/2008 on Islamic Banking shows that Islamic banks have an important role in promoting faster economic growth. This law strengthens the structure of the Islamic banking industry, meets international financial and service quality standards, and encourages increased supervisory effectiveness. Then, it regulates several important aspects of Islamic banking, which aims to create banks that operate based on sharia principles and help develop an economy and finance that synergizes with sharia principles. The purpose of this study is to determine how the performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia affects economic growth, as well as to assess and compare the performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia. This research uses a juridical-normative research method, which is a library research with the collection of secondary legal materials related to the research. The influence of Islamic banks on economic growth in Indonesia shows that Islamic banking financing has a positive influence on economic growth. Islamic banks must be more active in increasing the proportion of financing in sectors that can drive the real economy, Islamic banks can work with monetary authorities to improve the performance of Islamic banking so that it can compete with conventional banking.
