The garment industry in Indonesia is a large and important industry for the Indonesian economy. However, behind the success of this industry, there is a problem that often occurs, namely worker exploitation. One case of labor exploitation occurred in the Nusantara Bonded Zone (KBN) in Cakung, North Jakarta, where female garment factory workers faced an exploitative work system. The female workers there are forced to hide their pregnancies until the last moment in order to compensate for menstrual leave. Apart from that, female workers in the Cakung industrial area were also forced to have sexual relations and were threatened with not having their work contracts extended if they refused. In 2017, around 56.6 percent of female workers in the Nusantara Bonded Industrial area, Cakung, North Jakarta, had experienced sexual harassment both physically and mentally. This issue is of concern to many parties, including the Women's Labor Committee (KBP), which will build a women workers' advocacy post.
