PERAN SIVITAS AKADEMIKA UNIVERSITAS TARUMANAGARA DALAM PENGEMBANGAN UMKM

Abstract

MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) are productive businesses owned by individuals or business entities that have met the necessary requirements and criteria to qualify as micro-enterprises. Law No. 20 of 2008 regulates this, aligning with the definition of MSMEs, categorizing them into several parts: micro-enterprises, small businesses, and medium-sized enterprises. To enhance their business prospects, they must exhibit creativity and innovation, enabling them to compete effectively with other MSME players. Tarumanagara University (Untar) actively participates in fostering entrepreneurship growth among students in the field of economics. In this research, the author employs the content analysis technique to gather and consolidate data for research purposes. Within this discussion, the following question emerges: "What role does the Tarumanagara University Academic Community play in the development of MSMEs?" In fulfilling the Tridharma points of the academic community, especially conducting research and development that benefits in producing creative, innovative, and intelligent students equipped for the workforce, it should have a positive impact on Indonesia's progress. Tarumanagara University plays a crucial role in MSME development because, through MSMEs, it can contribute to economic equity, offer opportunities for new business ventures, and expand employment opportunities in Indonesia. Consequently, Untar provides several programs for MSMEs, collaborates with the Jambi Province, and establishes partnerships with other universities. Untar is not limited to internal initiatives; it also engages externally. This is driven by Untar's recognition that it can amplify the existing economic momentum for the betterment of society. Furthermore, Untar acknowledges that MSME players are not confined to a specific group; even individuals with disabilities can participate. Untar not only offers support and knowledge but also provides guidance in formulating ideas to ensure that MSME players stay on the right track in their planning. Through these activities, it is hoped that all young individuals will realize that there is indeed substantial support and numerous opportunities available to them for developing their potential in the field of MSMEs.
