Abstract

The digital era demands that students master 21st-century skills, namely critical, creative, communicative, and collaborative thinking. In the context of literary education in Indonesia, poetry learning is often still cognitive and textual. However, current learning developments require reflective and meaningful abilities. This study aims to formulate a transformative poetry learning design that is relevant to the needs of 21st-century skills through an in-depth learning approach that utilizes digital photos as a trigger for meaning. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and content analysis of various scientific sources. The results show that the integration of digital photos in poetry learning plays a significant role in developing 21st-century skills. This learning design produces three main syntheses: (1) joyful learning through visual aesthetic experiences and creative expression, (2) mindful learning through emotional appreciation and value reflection, and (3) meaningful learning through the creation of works that represent students' views of life. Conceptually, this model has the potential to strengthen critical thinking skills in interpreting visual symbols, creative communication through poetry, collaboration in interpreting meaning, and creativity through the production of aesthetic content. Thus, this research contributes to the reconstruction of the poetry learning paradigm towards a humanistic-reflective aspect that is in line with the character of 21st century education.
