Abstract

The term photography originates from the Greek words phōtós (φωτός), the genitive of phōs (φῶς), meaning "light", and graphé (γραφή), meaning "drawing" or "representation by means of lines", thus literally translated as "drawing with light". Over time, photography has evolved from a means of documentation into a powerful medium of artistic expression. This evolution has given rise to several complementary disciplines, one of which is photo editing or image manipulation. This field plays a crucial role in enhancing the visual quality of photographic works, particularly in commercial practices such as wedding and pre-wedding photography provided by professional studios. Photo editing in this context typically employs non-invasive or non-destructive techniques methods that maintain the integrity of the subject while applying minor corrections such as blemish removal, skin tone smoothing, or light adjustments.
