Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder in
women of reproductive age, affecting fertility and long-term health. This
study aims to examine the risk factors of PCOS through a literature review
of 10 articles, consisting of 3 national and 7 international publications in
Indonesian and English, sourced from PubMed, Google Scholar, and
ResearchGate (2015-2025). The selected articles include quantitative
research with case-control, cross-sectional, systematic review, and metaanalysis
study designs. This study focuses on identifying the primary risk
factors of PCOS and finds that stress, irregular menstrual cycles, low
physical activity, obesity, and family history significantly increase the risk.
These findings highlight the importance of multidimensional interventions,
including stress management, weight regulation, promoting an active
lifestyle, and early detection in at-risk individuals to prevent PCOS onset and
minimize reproductive and metabolic complications.
