Severe head injury is a serious medical condition that can cause various neurological and systemic complications, including cardiac arrhythmias. One of the rare but significant complications is Sick Sinus Syndrome (SSS), a sinoatrial node dysfunction that causes cardiac arrhythmias such as bradycardia, sinus arrest, and syncopal episodes. This study aims to solve the relationship between severe head injury and the occurrence of SSS as a complication, as well as to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical management. The method used is a retrospective case study of patients with severe head injury who experienced cardiac arrhythmias in the intensive care unit. The results showed that activation of the autonomic nervous system due to increased intracranial pressure can trigger sinus node dysfunction. Close cardiac monitoring and early intervention such as pacemaker implantation are needed to prevent morbidity and mortality. This study emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in the management of severe head injury accompanied by cardiac complications such as SSS.
