Abstract

The increasing number of sexual violence cases in Indonesia shows the ineffectiveness of the implementation of the Law on Sexual Violence Against Children. These cases not only damage the lives and futures of children, but also have an impact on the social life and mental health of victims. In this case, normative research is used and uses secondary data in the form of primary legal materials, namely Law No. 12 of 2002 concerning the Crime of Sexual Harassment, and secondary, namely journals, legal articles, and legal cases on sexual harassment involving toddlers. This article aims to explain the authority of Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence in enforcing the law against cases of sexual violence involving toddlers. The conclusion of this study is that Sexual violence against children is a serious problem that threatens the future of the nation and can have a negative impact on victims, families, and society. Sexual violence includes various types of actions, from minor things to serious violations of the law. Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence is a stronger and more adequate legal basis for handling cases of sexual violence in Indonesia. This law regulates the types of acts of violence against a person, sanctions for perpetrators, protection and recovery for victims. Especially if the victim is a minor. This error is increasingly complex due to the lack of public knowledge about preventing sexual violence, low reporting rates, and negative prejudices attached to victims.
