Introduction: As the main entrance for patients as well as the hospital's front office, the Emergency Room always faces a situation of overcrowding of patients. Objective: to identify descriptions of patient waiting times, patient bed utilization and patient density levels in the Emergency Department. Methods: the study used a qualitative descriptive analysis of the capacity management of the Emergency Room service through the National Emergency Department Overcrowded Scale (NEDOCS) instrument by observing the situation of patient care every hour in real time for 144 hours. Data analysis used the frequency distribution through the SPSS 25 application. The results showed that on average: patient waiting time was 17 hours, the average patient bed utilization reached 22 beds per hour, the average patient density score was ≥ 101 (≥ overcrowded ). Conclusion: patient waiting time still does not meet minimum service standards (≥ 6 hours). The level of patient density occurs at level ≥ 4 (≥ overcrowded).
