Abstract

The increasing quality and ease of accessing information about restaurants or places to eat, as well as the activities of the people to meet their food needs are getting higher resulting in an increase in people's demand for choosing Food Away from Home (FAFH). However, if you look at the conditions of increasing urbanization and the high female workforce, it allows changes in the lifestyle of urban communities and contributes to increasing the popularity of the FAFH trend in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the FAFH consumption patterns of the people of Tambaksari District based on income levels that affect the frequency of FAFH activities, time ownership, eating habits and spending on food consumption, as well as analyze the factors that influence FAFH consumption patterns. The method of determining the sample using a multistage sampling technique with a combination of cluster sampling techniques and stratified random sampling with a total of 100 respondents. The first objective was analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis, and the second objective was analyzed using factor analysis. The results showed that the variables of frequency, time ownership, consumption spending were affected by income levels, while eating habits were not affected by income levels. The results of the factor analysis show that the factors that influence the consumption patterns of FAFH in urban Surabaya are the quality of food, ambience or atmosphere and lifestyle.
