Abstract

This study was conducted to address the need for an objective evaluation of the tiered development system for 100-meter sprint athletes, particularly between the Regional Training Center (PUSLATDA) and the National Training Center (PELATNAS). The selection of athletes for national development has largely relied on competition performance, which may not fully reflect the physical potential of regional athletes. This study aimed to compare the physical fitness test results of 100-meter sprint athletes from PUSLATDA East Java and PELATNAS, and to identify the potential of PUSLATDA athletes for national-level development. A quantitative approach with a comparative research design was employed. The subjects consisted of 100-meter sprint athletes from PUSLATDA East Java and PELATNAS. Data were collected through a series of physical fitness tests, including anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, lung capacity, flexibility, sit-up performance, and heart rate recovery (HR Max). The data were analyzed using normality tests and independent sample t-tests. The results revealed significant differences in several physical fitness components, with PELATNAS athletes demonstrating superior overall physical fitness. However, several PUSLATDA athletes exhibited physical fitness levels comparable to those of PELATNAS athletes, indicating their potential to be recommended for national development.
