Abstract

In the letting go phase, the mother will take responsibility for caring for the baby, and the mother must also adapt to the needs of the baby who is very dependent. This causes a decrease in the mother's rights, freedom, and social relationships that the mother usually has. If not handled properly, it can lead to postpartum blues and postpartum depression. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2023), around 3.8% or more than 280 million people in the world experience depression. The incidence of postpartum depression in Asia is also quite high and varies between 3.5% and 63.3%. The purpose of this scoping review is to identify and map support and families for postpartum depression in Asia. The scoping review follows the framework of The Joanna Briggs Institute which consists of identifying the focus of the review, identifying relevant studies, describing the process, identifying literature with the PRISMA flowchart, data extraction and mapping or scoping. The results of the scoping review showed that there were six articles obtained from the search process. This scoping review gave rise to two themes, namely factors that cause postpartum depression and social support. The conclusion is that social support from husbands, families such as mothers-in-law, and people around have a significant impact on the occurrence of postpartum depression in Asia.
