The purpose of this article is to find out the phenomenon of money politics that occurs among the public during elections from a political development perspective. The writing method in preparing this article uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques using literature or library research. From this presentation, it can be concluded that the phenomenon of money politics is a political practice that is wrong and very damaging to the quality of democracy in Indonesia. The practice of money politics and the intervention of money in political life is a universal phenomenon that does not only occur in Indonesia. The link between economic and political factors is one of the characteristics behind the state-led development model. Money politics in democratic parties has become commonplace among the people, both at the center and in the regions, during elections. Because in elections money is one of the most efficacious weapons in influencing the public in selecting candidates for legislative members. Money politics can affect political development and hinder political development. Political practice should be in accordance with development politics because functionally as a movement for change towards an idealistic political system developed by a state government, besides that political development requires honest political processes in political practice, the processes follow include the many people who participate in politics and processes of fair competition in politics.
