Kerapatan Adat Nagari, abbreviated as KAN, is an organization from one of the informal leadership branches in Minangkabau, especially in the Province of West Sumatra. The existence of KAN is strengthened by the emergence of Regional Regulation of West Sumatra Province No. 2 of 2007 concerning Principles of Nagari Government. However, after this regulation was replaced with a new regulation, namely West Sumatra Regional Regulation No. 7 of 2018, KAN actually lost its identity as the organization that oversees the Adaik Salingka Nagari (Adat within the Nagari scope), the existence of KAN also had an impact on the abolition of the Nagari Deliberation Body (BAMUS), which so far was the Nagari Legislative Institution as well as a working partner of the Wali Nagari. The purpose of this writing is for the Regional Government of West Sumatra Province to revise and re-examine Regional Regulation No. 7 of 2018, and can provide understanding to the public, so that the community does not have a different interpretation of KAN. The writing method used is literature study which is supported by the results of observation and relevant research. The existence of KAN is expected to function properly and not damage the existing system.
