Abstract

Epistemology is a segment of philosophy that investigates the essence, origins, and credibility of knowledge, playing an essential role in the development of public policies anchored in scientific principles. Its significance can be seen in its influence on the ways in which scientific data is gathered, assessed, and employed in choices that have a considerable impact on society. Public policies relying on scientific insights necessitate precise data and comprehension of the methods used to obtain and validate that knowledge. By adopting an epistemological perspective, legislators can differentiate reliable evidence from mere opinions, recognize the constraints of scientific findings, and evaluate the significance of proof in multifaceted social frameworks. This research also illuminates the practical difficulties encountered when implementing policies focused on science, including limited organizational resources, breakdowns in communication between scientists and policymakers, and political factors that might undermine the trustworthiness of data. Consequently, establishing a solid epistemological foundation is vital to ensure that public policies are based on scientific evidence, accountable, flexible, and directed at the welfare of the broader community.
