Abstract

The Constitutional Court Decision No. 14/PUU-XI/2013 marks a significant milestone in the reform of Indonesia's electoral system, requiring the simultaneous implementation of legislative and executive elections to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and strengthen the presidential system. This decision is analyzed from the perspective of constitutional law, highlighting the role of judicial review as a corrective mechanism for public policies that are inconsistent with the constitution. Through a juridical-normative approach, this study explores the legal and political implications of the decision, including its impact on political stability, government legitimacy, and the challenges in technical and administrative implementation. This decision contributes significantly to electoral reform by providing a legal basis for the simultaneous elections, although its success depends on the readiness of regulations, election organizing bodies, and the public. Efforts to harmonize policies and further reform are needed to ensure the sustainability of the changes initiated by this decision.
