Abstract

Political parties in Indonesia are institutions that play an important role in influencing and intervening in government policy, where their existence is an instrument for shaping culture and political attitudes in society, acting as a liaison between those who govern and those who are ordered, namely mapping information from the community to be distributed to other parties. control and vice versa from the authorities to the community. The emergence of social media and other digital platforms has provided new ways for political parties to interact with society, especially the younger generation. However, many things are happening, namely how political parties move from conventional campaigns in the form of banners to digital campaigns in the form of social media, online advertisements and whether social media increases people's political participation or creates false involvement. This paper uses normative legal research or literature review as a process to find legal rules, legal principles and legal doctrines to answer the legal issues faced. In this period of transition from conventional to digital campaigns, it is an unavoidable trend in the world of modern politics. Although there are challenges in implementation, digital campaigns offer great opportunities for political parties to reach voters more effectively and efficiently. Therefore, it is hoped that this research can make a positive contribution to a better understanding of the role of social media in political dynamics, as well as provide recommendations for political parties, policy makers and society in general.
