Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (pulmonary TB) is a chronic disease that is transmitted through respiratory droplets when sufferers cough, sneeze or talk. Until now, pulmonary tuberculosis is still a problem in Indonesia, one of which affects Teluknaga Village. Cough etiquette can be done to prevent the spread of pulmonary tuberculosis. Teluknaga Community Health Center recorded an additional 190 new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis from January to September 2023. Seeing data on the increase in new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis in the operational area of Teluknaga Community Health Center, it is necessary to carry out community diagnosis. Objective: To reduce the number of new cases of pulmonary TB in the Teluknaga health center working area by increasing the knowledge of the Teluknaga Village community regarding cough etiquette Method: Activities were carried out using a community diagnosis approach. A situation analysis is carried out to determine the problem. Identify problems using Blum's Paradigm. Prioritization of problems using the Delphi non-scoring technique method. Fishbone diagram to determine the root cause of the problem. Intervention plan with log frame goals. Intervention is carried out through cough etiquette education to cadres and the community. Results: Teluknaga Village had the highest increase in new cases of pulmonary TB in the Teluknaga Health Center working area. After the intervention was carried out, it was found that the people present were able to practice and explain cough etiquette. Conclusion: After carrying out a community diagnosis approach, Teluknaga Village was found to be the village with the highest number of new TB cases, and the cause was known and intervention was carried out.
