Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most significant risk factors for stroke, which remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Insufficient knowledge of stroke prevention among hypertensive patients contributes to poor disease management and increased risk of complications. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of health education in improving hypertensive patients’ knowledge regarding stroke prevention in health care facilities. A quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design was used, involving hypertensive patients receiving health education interventions on stroke prevention, lifestyle modification, and medication adherence. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests to measure changes in patients’ knowledge before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores after the educational intervention (p < 0.05), indicating that structured health education can effectively enhance patients’ understanding of stroke prevention. The study concludes that integrating health education into routine hypertension management is essential to reduce stroke risk and improve patient outcomes. It is recommended that health care providers implement continuous and community-based education programs focusing on hypertension control and stroke prevention.
