PERANAN DAN UPAYA MENUMBUHKAN KETERAMPILAN PROSES SAINS SISWA MELALUI PEMANFAATAN DAN PENGELOLAAN LABORATORIUM YANG OPTIMAL

Abstract

The laboratory is a place for observation, experimentation, training and testing of knowledge and technology concepts. The aims of this study were to: (1) find out the management of the science laboratory at SMP Negri 12 Palembang, and (2) find out the students' science process skills. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive. The data collection techniques are: observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that laboratory management was good enough, with three indicators in the sufficient category, namely practicum forms, frequency of use of the laboratory, constraints when using the laboratory, and the less category, namely the completeness of tools and materials, the effectiveness of laboratory utilization, and the implementation of procedures in activities. practice. Then, the students' science process skills were in the good category, with the highest percentage, namely the hypothesis of 79.82%, while the indicator with the lowest percentage was conducting experiments 37.50%. Science laboratory management affects students' science process skills, in good laboratory management it will provide a very large role, especially in forming conceptual understanding, verifying the correctness of concepts, fostering students' process and affective skills.
