Abstract

The broad and complex phenomenon that influences local cultural identity, including culture, technology, economics, and communication is called globalization. In research, the impact of globalization on local cultural identity is expressed in three aspects: culture and communication, economy and environment, and the influence of the younger generation. The influence of culture and communication brings about changes in values and traditions, and requires understanding and managing cultural differences. Economic and environmental influences influence local economic and cultural identity, where identity defense strategies must be adapted to economic changes. The younger generation is often not exposed to the influence of globalization, but global culture can change their way of life, behavior and values. Cultural and communication influences change values, traditions, and communication efforts among individuals and communities, requiring understanding and managing cultural differences as well as monitoring global cultural influences that may inhibit or change local cultural identities. In economic and environmental aspects, globalization affects local economies and brings changes in the structure of employment and trade, which then affects local cultural identity. Identity defense strategies must be adapted to economic changes and the influence of globalization. The influence of the younger generation on local cultural identity is a phenomenon that needs to be considered, because global culture can change their way of life, behavior and values very quietly.
