Abstract

A country's constitution serves as the main legal foundation that determines the structure of the country's legal system. In Indonesia, the legal system is based on the 1945 Constitution. The 1945 Constitution acts as the legal basis for the national legal system, becoming the main source in the formation of other laws and regulations. The 1945 Constitution serves as the state constitution and sets out the structure, principles and basic values governing government and public life, thus providing a strong foundation for the implementation of policies and the protection of citizens' rights.The national legal system is a legal system that applies throughout Indonesia, which is strongly influenced and sourced from Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, which has undergone four amendments. This article examines the crucial role of the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945) in building Indonesia's national legal system. As the main constitution, the 1945 Constitution sets out the legal foundations governing the structure of government, human rights, and the basic principles of national life. Through a historical approach and contemporary analysis, this journal emphasizes the importance of the 1945 Constitution in upholding legal stability, promoting justice, and ensuring popular sovereignty. By exploring the role and evolution of the 1945 Constitution, this article aims to provide a deep insight into how this constitution has become a solid foundation in the development of Indonesia's national legal system. As such, the 1945 Constitution plays a pivotal role in the formation and regulation of Indonesia's national legal system.
