Abstract

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education has become a significant necessity in the modern era. The rapid advancement of ICT offers various opportunities to enhance the quality of the teaching and learning process, including in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). This paper explores the concept of utilizing ICT as a learning medium in IRE, highlighting both its benefits and challenges. ICT-based learning enables more flexible, interactive, and engaging educational experiences through tools such as digital videos, e-learning platforms, and various educational applications. It also provides broader access to Islamic learning resources such as digital books, scholarly journals, and online lectures. Despite its advantages, ICT implementation in IRE faces challenges such as potential misuse by students, internet access issues, and communication barriers during online learning. Therefore, it is crucial for educators and stakeholders to wisely and effectively integrate ICT to optimize its impact on Islamic education and support students’ moral and character development in the digital age.
